Hoover windtunnel filter with foam filter
If your bagless vacuum is producing a weird smell every time you use it, you definitely need to replace the filter. I purchased mine a few years ago and each time I had to vacuum a foul smell was coming out of it, even though the dirt cup was empty and clean. I did not realize that the filter was completely dirty and causing the bad odor. I should have been more proactive in replacing the filter more often to avoid the bad smell but at least I took care of it and finally got it under control. I cleaned up the vacuum, replaced the filter and presto!! My vacuum is again as new and the odor is all gone.
